George H.W. Bush and Carolyn Crayton’s meeting was soon after the Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful was formed by Keep America Beautiful. The local organization headed up by Mrs. Crayton joined two others in Charlotte and Tampa as the first in the nation. That event four decades ago was marked by pink clad Keep America Beautiful President Helen Lowman coming to Macon to pay tribute to Carolyn and other pioneers of the movement which is now nationwide. Along with a great dinner at the Blacksmith Shoppe, KMBB President & CEO Pam Carswell put together the historic photo presentation documenting Carolyn’s years of service to Macon,–Georgia, and the Nation.
